Due Date
Renewal changes must be submitted by the 15th of the month by 5 pm, to be effective by the 1st of the renewal month. Changes submitted after the 16th of the month will take effect on the first of the following month.

New Hire rates will be based on the member’s age at the group’s effective date.
Newborn Coverage
What is the effective date of coverage for a newborn, and how are premiums requested?
All plans provide coverage for services the newborn receives during the newborn eligibility period under the parent’s or guardian’s health plan.
Is there an additional cost for covering the newborn during the first 30 days?
No, services that fall under a supplemental benefit are covered if that supplemental benefit is included in the parent’s or guardian’s plan.
Does this apply to both the mother and the father?
Yes, during the newborn eligibility period, the applicable cost share is the parent’s or guardian’s cost share for any services the newborn receives.
ID Cards
Member App for downloading ID cards
Once members are registered on kp.org, they can access a digital version of their membership ID card for most plans (some out of area plans not available) right from smart/mobile devices using the Kaiser Permanente mobile app for all markets. KP.org provides convenient, secure access to members’ Kaiser Permanente membership information, including their membership ID card, anytime, anywhere so members can check in for appointments, pick up their prescriptions, and access their family’s membership information.

Can a broker download ID cards?
Yes. Steps to access the digital membership ID card:
- Register with kp.org or kp.org/wa.
- Download and / or update to the latest version of the Kaiser Permanente app from favorite app store*.
- Log in to Kaiser Permanente app using kp.org credentials.
- Tap on card icon to access the digital membership card. Members have access to email a version of their own and / or registered family members ID cards once logged into kp.org. *The KP App is only available on Google Play and Apple App Store.
Prior Carrier Deductible Credit
Prior Carrier Deductible Credit is not available. Kaiser Permanente does not credit expenses applied toward deductibles or out-of-pocket maximums under a prior medical or dental plan.
Out-of-Pocket Maximum (OOPM) carryover credit may be available under Kaiser Permanente crossover guidelines.
No Prior Carrier Deductible Credit form is required.

Medicare Part D Creditable Coverage (2026)
All Kaiser Permanente Small Group plans are considered creditable for the 2026 plan year.
